We may discuss aspects of your background, look at your upbringing, how you were raised, early childhood relationships or any adverse experiences, trauma, and use that to develop a Treatment Plan. 

After identifying how Anxiety is affecting you and what the root cause is we can use Anxiety Medication to help you manage symptoms better so that you excel in life and do the healing work of addressing some of those deeper wounds through Counseling. 

As your Treatment progresses, shared decision-making continues to be important. You’ll have regular follow-up appointments to evaluate how well the chosen Treatment is working, and you can discuss any side effects or concerns you might have. If needed, adjustments can be made to your Treatment Plan to improve its effectiveness.

Ultimately, shared decision-making empowers you to take an active role in your Anxiety Treatment journey. Can I be treated with medications only, since I’m not comfortable sharing my life story? 

Anxiety Therapy can indeed be challenging at first, as you might not be used to opening up about yourself or reflecting on the behaviors, actions, and responses that contribute to your anxiety. However, with time, effort, and dedication, you’ll start to see the benefits. To supplement therapy, you might consider using anxiety workbooks or journaling.

 

What about medication side effects, personality changes, and the risk of dependency? 

When it comes to medication, it’s common to have concerns about becoming dependent, personality changes, or feeling “zombie-like.” Some of these fears might be fueled by media portrayals of psychiatry. It’s important to remember that the majority of people who take medication for Anxiety are high-functioning individuals who find it helpful in managing their symptoms and living a more enjoyable life.
